Bartlett Park Neighborhood meeting this Thursday

updated on 5-7-08
Neighborhood Association Meeting

You are invited you to our monthly meeting this Thursday, May 8th at 6pm.
We meet in the park at the Frank Pierce Center, 2000 7th Street South on the second Thursday each month.

Restoring the War Memorial

Boy Scout Troop 305 is restoring the war memorial at Greenwood Cemetery on 11th Avenue South. We hope to have it completed in time for a Memorial Day rededication on Saturday, May 24th from 9:30-10:30 am. They have scheduled workdays for next Saturday, May 10th from 8am-2pm and, if needed, the following Saturday, May 17th from 8am-2pm to finish up.

Free Mulch

We are arranging a give away of Recycled Mulch to promote its use. This is inexpensive if delivered and free if you pick it up. The city can even arrange to load it on your truck when equipment is available. The quality has improved a great deal. This will probable take place at the Bartlett Park Community Garden on a Wednesday or Saturday. Check this web site for details.
If you have a bare spot in your yard please come and get some of this.

We are in a Drought

A few more weeks of warm dry weather are coming. Please be careful not to waste water and take advantage of mulch and drought tolerant native plants we sell at the market to save water in your landscape.

Community Garden Update

The Bartlett Park Community Garden will soon be open at the corner of Newton Ave. and Highland Street just east of MLK. Work is now being completed on the fence and pump. Plants are being raised in containers so soon you will see an instant greening of the garden. Thanks to the Neighborhood Times for another story and photos this past Sunday. The monthly meeting is every other Wednesday. The following Wednesday a work group will meet at the garden. The talk by Pam Brown was well attended. More programs are being considered

Saturday Morning Market

Join the the Market Team that runs the garden booth on Saturday mornings or come by to say hello while you are shopping or listening to the music. The Saturday Morning Market operates on Saturdays between October and May, from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm, on Central Ave. between 1st and 2nd Streets in downtown St Petersburg. You are invited to participate with the garden booth at the Saturday Morning Market . Native plants and t shirts are sold to raise money for the garden. A second group works in the garden every Saturday.

Salt Creek Cleanup

We are planning to clean the shoreline of the creek Saturday June 21st. Please volunteer a few hours for this. Details will be out soon.
