Are you tired of some of the things that are going on in our community? Rethinking Justice Workshop, this Saturday

Are you sick of ignoring God’s call to do justice?

Well, here’s your chance to put your faith into action. Join with members from about 30 congregations from throughout Pinellas County and learn about the biblical requirement to do justice. This workshop will happen this Saturday right here in our neighborhood.

Learn about how and why it’s important for us to stand up for our communities and to bring them closer to what God designed them to be.

This sounds a bit scary. Like a huge blending of church and state. Could you expand on what this involves a bit?? Please??

You have a point but I think this group has found a good balance.

This group has big accomplishments.

From the F.A.S.T. web: "F.A.S.T. secured commitments from the director of the Early Learning coalition to provide funding for a full-day of Pre-K for any child whose parents are working and make less than 200% of the poverty level. (2,327 low-income 4-year-olds)...
24 public schools began training to implement school-wide discipline programs... approximately 37,000 students benefited from a more safe and productive learning environment.
...a new one-number system for senior transportation. This system allows seniors to speak directly with a trained professional who can help them with their transportation needs.

...commitments from all 7 county commissioners to support both an affordable housing trust fund and an inclusionary zoning ordinance. Currently the affordable housing trust fund is up and running with an initial $10 million and commitments for an additional $20 million over the next 2 years. This means a minimum of 300 new (or rehabilitated) units of affordable housing will be created through the affordable housing trust fund in its first three years.
...Currently FAST members are organizing turnout for the County budget hearings on Sept. 4th and Sept. 18th to voice the need to maintain the committed funding for affordable housing.
